Feeding the Spirit, Educating the Mind, Preserving the Community

Big "Thank you" to our Board for their committment of time, talents and treasures to Flint Hill Farm Educational Center, Inc.  The Board can report 100% financial support for the year 2017.

This year has been a year of SUCCESSFUL endeavors!

1.  Thanks to the devoted Event Committee Leaders FHFED hosted our SECOND AMAZING Farm to Table Spring HOEDOWN.  The excellent menu was created and prepared under the direction of Executive Chef Michael Brack-LVHN Sodexo, also a member of our Board and his culinary friends of the Sodexo team We were blessed to have the assistance of our friends from the LCTI culinary program, Chef Hedoka and students!  A BIG thank you to all!!

2. 2017 was a time of transition for our Blacksmith shop into a year round all purpose room.  October saw the closing in of the big barn doors on the Blacksmith Shop, insulation and installation of a man door into an addition that would allow wheelchair access to the Blacksmith shop allpurpose room.  The installation of a wood burning stove and chimney was competed in November 3016..  Spring 2016 welcomed new windows, shutters and facelift painting through volunteer hours and generous donations, addition of storage and working cooking demonstration area. Addition of AV equipment, benches for student seating, additional electricial outlets and ceiling fan came throughout the summer and fall.  The solar room is  completed outfitted with a hydroponic growing demostration for local school students and visitors full of herbs on the top level and great looking fish in the tank below!  Both rooms are being used by groups year round since the wood burning stove provides plenty of heat to keep the area warm and toasty.  Groups of 30 have been confortably be accommodated.

3. Tours and visitors for this year ( schools, homeschoolers, scout troops, day-care centers, OPEN HOUSE and farm store families) totaled over 3000!  We are blessed to have a continued outreach to our community.  Please tell your teachers about our tour packages!

4. Board Member Elizabeth Conard Ph.D. and Educator at Moravian College Masters Program has assisted FHFED in our application for Act 48 Credits through the PA Department of Education.  Approval will allow us at the farm to educate the educators in expanded Ag-Ed curriculum for the classroom.

5. FHFED applied to the PA Department of Education for approval of EITC credits.  We were supported by superintendents of 8 local districts though letters submitted on our behalf, validating our continued service to the Lehigh County and surrounding areas.  Awaiting a response in the next 2 months.

6. OPENING of the Woods Walk and participation with PA. DCNR as Lehigh County's representation for the Walk in Penns Woods Celebration October 1st!

We want to give a warm thank you to all the summer staff and volunteers who help to make Flint Hill Farm Educational Center a great experience for all ages this past summer season and we are already making plans for the 2018 summer camps and tours. Please visit the Summer Camp page for dates and times!

Please remember that  all donations and the payments we collect when you purchase our farm store products go toward paying upcoming hay bills and monthly feed, assist our school scholarships and allow us to extend our outreach to our community.
